About: subTerrain magazine is accepting submissions for a Special Sci-Fi Issue call A House Made of Dawn.
Submissions: Essays (7,000 words max), fiction (5,000) and poetry (100 lines) on the theme of “visions of the cultural ramifications of current and future trends in digital technologies.”
Pay: Four “feature pieces” will receive $750 each. Other works will receive subTerrain’s regular rate: prose $50/pg and $50 per poem.

Planet Crisis Poetry Anthology
About: Seeking poems for an anthology to address the planetary crisis.
Pay: Copy of anthology.
Submissions: One to three original, unpublished poems. Poems that bear witness to our changing climate and humankind’s part in causing the change. Poems that show our consumer mindset, our industries, street protests, politics, and science. Poems that sound the alarm of species and habitat loss, new weather extremes, our response and lack of response; how ecological ideals collide with the challenge of changing habits and how we live. Poems of grief or fury, despair or hope. Poems that imagine better ways to live and how we might yet save our Earth.

Talking Soup
About: Talking Soup is on the lookout for non-fiction writing about real life. But what does that mean? “We’ve had journalists in Kabul to dockers from Copenhagen and everything in between. Hate your job? Write it and send it. Modern life’s absurdities staring you down? Get it written.”
Pay: None
Submissions: Non-fiction (ideally written in the first person) that employs elements of narrative storytelling or personal essays. Submissions should be no longer than 2,000 words. Original photographs and artwork submitted with your story is accepted. No poetry, fiction or hard news.
