Found on the Internet

The Labour Day Weekend approacheth, readers. This Friday, we’re sending you back to school or wherever it is you half-heartedly clock in with some totally rad indie stuff.

Icarus Proudbottom Teaches Typing – Coming from the studio who brought you that game where you fly via poop propulsion, Icarus is back with a thirst for typing. An insatiable, terrible thirst.

Javier Perez’s EN PUNTAS – If you thought ballet dancing was tough, try doing it with knives strapped to your flats. Perez brings this pirouetting badassery to life with a video installation where dancer Amelie Segarra destroys a piano with mere stomps. While it isn’t the full film (just extracts of Segarra preforming) it’s still enough to warrant watching.

One Terabyte of Kilobyte Age Photo Op – You miss Geocities. Even if you think you don’t, that awful website you built was once your pride and joy. If you’re anything like me, scouring internet ruins for virtual artifacts sounds like a pretty good Friday night. Kick back tonight with this tumblr blog featuring the Geocities archive team’s screenshots of webpages.

Welcome to Night Vale – Christ. How do I even begin to explain this one? All right, well, imagine the Twilight Zone written by Lovecraft was condensed into one town. Its bizarro rules (DO NOT ENTER THE DOG PARK.) and unspeakable terrors are unchallenged by inhabitants and relayed to you by a pleasant radio announcer. Amongst all the weirdness, the most normal aspect is a wonderful queer love story starring Cecil, the announcer, and Carlos the scientist, who he routinely gushes about on-air. A podcast unlike any other, Night Vale will fill you with joy and horror beyond your strangest dreams.

Upside down grin – Described by the artist as “webcomicky art something or other”, these cute, minimalistic illustrations accompanied by captions are guaranteed to turn your upside down grin upside down. So it’s like. A smile? I think? I dunno. This whole facial expression thing is very confusing. Updates Monday to Friday.
