Found On The Internet – Hounds of Love Edition

Truman Capote with Dogfriend. From this Flavorwire story.

At Work Inside Our Detention Centres: A Guard’s Story
– A former prison guard details his time spent working in the immigrant detention centres of Australia, evocatively illustrated in comic form by the insanely talented Sam Wallman. Wow. Nightmarish, fascinating, heartbreaking and essential reading. (via The Global Mail)

Dungeons and Dragons Yoga – I laughed at this explanatory article and video for like 20 minutes when I saw the story two weeks ago and it still hasn’t left my consciousness yet. And now I think it is actually a really brilliant idea – bringing D & D out of the sedentary universe while also contravening yoga’s inherent tendency of self-important dolorousness. I would totally do yoga if I could pretend I was slicing people’s heads off with a sword according to the soothing instructions of a non-threatening, be-toqued man. Video below. (Via Wired)

Writers Being Kissed – Today is a gross holiday but I do like seeing photos of cute old men and ladies kissing, so. This is a collection of photos of writers kissing people. I included it basically because I really love the photo of Truman Capote kissing his dog (see start of this post) and I deliberately skipped over the Bret Easton Ellis photo because he’s the worst. Most of the photos are not super odious, though. Endorsement! (Via Flavorwire)

This is What a Librarian Looks Like – We shared this earlier this week on Facebook but it bears a repeat view – a photographer shares his portraits of various librarians from different parts of the U.S. Beautiful, diverse and amazing. Booklove = peoplelove. (Via Slate)

Activist Pick-Up Lines – I know, I’m linking to Buzzfeed, but I’m rusty here, ok? And these Twitter-sourced #activistpickuplines will be applicable to at least one person you know, if not several. Plus they’re pithy. Twitter folk, when you are not being shrill and insulting, you are sometimes ok. I particularly enjoyed the one below. Happy whatever day, ya knuckleheads!
