This latest installment of  lectures and delights was curated by Amy Langstaff. Featuring Christina Bagatavicius on Hoarding, David Jamieson on Metacognitive Mismatch & Relationship Strife and Sheila Murray-Brown’s Town, My Dad’s Town. Hosted by Misha Glouberman.

Thurs March 7, 6pm, Toronto launch of Serial Villain, Type Books, 883 Queen Street West, free

Author, illustrator and head honcho of amazing events like the Strip Spelling Bee and Queer Slowdance Sherwin Tjia is launching his new collection of illustrated b-movie/noir-inspired short stories, Serial Villain, at Type Books. There will be a Powerpoint illustration, signings and questions and answers.

Friday Marc 8, 11pm, Toronto Strip Spelling Bee: Drag Edition, Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, 12 Alexander Street, $10

This latest installment of everyone’s favorite babely spelling bee promises to be anything but a drag (I know, I know, but the joke wrote itself.)

Saturday March 9, 9:30pm, Toronto Queer Slowdance: St. Patty’s Edition, Dovercourt House, 805 Dovercourt Road, $10

With a lending library of designated dancers for all you wallflowers, and a dancecard-booklet to set up dances in advance (should you choose to), Queer Slowdance Night has all slow songs, all night long. Slow songs will be simulcast into the brand-new basement chillout lounge.

Saturday March 9, all day (rally begins at 11am) International Women’s Day Celebrations, rally begins at OISE Auditorium, 252 Bloor Street West

International Women’s Day (8 March) is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. Today’s celebrations begin with a rally at 11am followed by a march, a fair and a dance at 8pm.

Saturday March 9, 1:30pm, Impossible Words with Kevin Chong, Academy of the Impossible, 231 Wallace Avenue, free

This wonderful free literary salon features Vancouver author Kevin Chong along with Sagan Yee and Rob Saffrey, two young writers from the Toronto Street Writers, who will interview Chong about his work.

Sunday March 10, 9pm, Toronto Poetry Slam Semifinals #1 featuring Magpie Ulysses, Drake Hotel, 1150 Queen Street West, $5

TPS Semifinals #1 will pit 8 poets against each other in a 2-round battle, where four poets will emerge victorious to compete in the Finals (April 20 @ the Royal). The Drake Hotel will be on fire with these 8 slam poets (this isn’t the order): David Delisca
Serafina, Patrick de Belen, Optimus Rhyme, Sabrina, If, Anto Chan, Iyah.
HALIFAX
Settlers of Catan, Bonanza, Crib, Darts, a whole lotta card games, possibly Monopoly and prizes.
