The third issue of Beautiful Mess is pretty much a perfect perzine. With this issue, Sarala moves from half-page black and white to quarter-page full-colour in order to create a special photo-heavy issue in homage to Amber Forrester’s Culture Slut #18 zine. This results in a zine filled with Polaroid photos, song lyrics, a recipe, and musings on friendship foundations, documenting your life, and learning to lie, all brought on by a move. Like a good motion picture, Beautiful Mess alternates between being visually gorgeous and hauntingly tender while leaving you cursing its brevity at the end. (Harley R. Pageot)
