zine review:
Chud Love
Jake Keating’s autobiographical comic zine, Chud Love, is a not-so-delicate blend of gross and sweet. While you might find yourself slightly repulsed by Jake’s constant farting and chain-smoking, you’ll probably find yourself equally touched by a conversation he has with a small child in a tree, or his struggles to make sense of his life. Jake’s simplistic, faintly punk-rock black & white drawings are surprisingly good at pulling a heartstring now and then. However, whenever Chud Love appears a little too sweet or sad, Jake is sure to throw in a crass, non sequitur gag as the last panel. And it’s a good thing he does – it’s what makes Chud Love so fun.
