Event: The Douglas College Review
As with all compilations, this is a mixed bag. I liked Bert Almon’s poem “Did You Ever See Such a Sight”, about hunting a mouse, and Julia Van Gorder’s poems about growing up in the Netherlands. And I enjoyed Carol Windley’s short story “Felt Skies”. But too much of the poetry and fiction just failed to engage me. And the “creative non-fiction” reads like bad first-person journalism and the reviews are pretentious lit-crit at its worst. (KR)
