Jones Av.
I’ve liked other issues of Jones Av, and the poetry’s OK, but I can’t get past Rob Mclennan’s three poems, because he barked at me at a book launch. Strange how the most obnoxious people seem to become prolific writers. I will push myself forward… Erica Cameron’s poetry is fascinating, it’s simple, just personal enough to grip me, yet leaves me wondering about the otherness of her voice: “We play slippery/ on black furniture. unfinished/ cereal and milk/ curdle around us, shrivelling/ our hands to salt.” I also liked Michael H. Brownstein’s 2 poems: “The first car”, and “A Most Dangerous Street Corner”. (EPW)
