Direct action has become identified with black bloc tactics at demonstrations. I don’t agree with that restriction. This is a publication of real direct action – from energy efficiency to home schooling to community shared agriculture – that changes the world in the here and now. This particular issue has a major focus on energy alternatives, but does contain other practical and reflective pieces. Managing Household Pests, for example, provides non-pesticide alternatives to dealing with ants, cockroaches, flour moths and other small pests. The catalogue of well selected resources in each issue is helpful. This is an easy to read, non-new age, non-strident publication that contains a lot of information on how to make our entire eco-system healthier and more welcoming to all life. (Brian Burch)
