You could say these songs are about relationships, but aren’t all pop songs? Pale Red’s second album tends to focus on the confusing parts of coupling, before, during and after: “I am just a stone for you, whatever that means.” Discovery is also front and centre — figuring out what’s possible and finding out what one is capable of. Frantic delivery prevails on a few of these tracks, but for the most part, this is minimal and methodical. Ultimately, it’s the music that sticks with you longer than the words; it’s unassuming, but hypnotic.
