Hutsul is the Ontario College of Art student who gave us the fantastic Dabbling in Doodles and Dementia (still available for $5). He’s got a new zine out, a collection of comic strips and frenetic one-offs. Not as hilarious and lacking the less cartoony sketches he’s done for another recent zine, the quixotic Radio Free Elvis, this does have some great single panel gags: A man in underwear bleeding from the needles piercing his skin says, “Try acupuncture. I feel like a million bucks.” A deformed couple try to hook dinner in Fishin’ in the Kitchen. I wasn’t crazy about the Strange Romance strips, but Hutsul definitely redeems himself with Calculator Man, the story of nerd loser Hal who gets struck by lightning while worrying about his math exam and becomes….you get the idea.
