Did you ever wonder what it would’ve been like if Mr. T. dated Daisy from Dukes of Hazzard? Well Owen did. Rubber Popsicle Factory is a comic laced with Mr. T nostalgia and spin-offs. The cover is kinda rubbery, which for some reason makes it fun to hold. I mean if you’re gonna call your zine Rubber Popsicle Factory, you may as well have, yes a popsicle stick taped to the first page as well. There’s a crossword puzzle and an R2D2 / Mr T. amalgam to make R2T2. Some of the art is actually okay, most of it is done in a kind of school-day notebook rush. The drawings of Daisy lend me to believe that she hasn’t aged well. Jason Turner’s drawings of Mr. T fighting Death and rowing a canoe are likely the best Mr. T sketches I’ve come across in some time. Read about Mr. T at Hazzard Tavern getting misty eyed as the waitress places his pitcher of ice cold milk down on the table. Connect the dots. Also comes with an old NBC Saturday morning cartoon ad. Also comes with a genuine Mr. T puzzle part. Only for the truly-T devoted. (NGM)
