Really if you can’t relate to the fantastic, epic Canadiana of this zine, then you’re barred from beavers and Mounties for good. Look, this thing may have set out to be some kind of thing for writers, and yes there’s stuff in there encouraging aspiring scribes, but what make this worth the $2 or twice that price are what I like to call the ‘Rush Diaries.’ That’s right kids, reprints from the actual diary of a female teenage Rush fan, complete with authentic period illustrations by the fan of Geddy et. al in all their early eighties long-hair glory. Cast your memeory back to high school (and if you’re in high school right now, take a tour through high school circa the early 80s) and revel in the memory of the ‘Stoners’ with feathered hair and a comb in the back pocket hanging out at the Eaton Centre. Now, here in Slush Pile, for the first time on live television, you can read that chick’s diary.
