This month’s cure for those cheery comic chortles is the gray on gray, x-ray inspired Undergarments. Inspirations for Meghan’s poetry include “nervousness”, “bleakness” and a few other ‘nesses which you can probably conjure yourself by reading lines like “discover mystified fog patches/recount all your lives/FIGURE OUT WHEN DEATH STOPS LIVING/PROGRESS THROUGH SCHIZOPHRENIC/the antidote finds me”. But there’s a subtlety to her poetics, the candle flickering through the goth inspired bleakness being a sense of humour evident in both her careful choice of words and those rare poems of pure hilarity (look for Jesus at the Cafe). Keep your pants on kids! You’ll need em to rush out and find this example of very fine reading. (HN)
