Downliners Sekt – The Saltire Wave
I tend to avoid doing CD reviews because, in my old age, I’ve turned into someone who only finds a new band that I like about once a year. Downliners Sekt may be my band for 2009. It’s trippy, shoegazery guitar pop that (thank God) contains no vocals. I send my thanks for the lack of vocals, not because I’m a huge fan of instrumental music, but because the thing that often ruins a new band for me is when the whiney boy or raspy girl vocals kick in. Thankfully, nothing happened to made me dislike Downliners Sekt. (Lindsay Gibb)
