This really is an old fashioned catalogue, with an order form in the back and everything. I’m not sure how to respond to such a thing. It seems so retro. But it sure enough is a clearinghouse of counterculture stuff – from conspiracy theory to cultural theory, psychedelic to cyberculture – they offer to sell you books, magazines and t-shirts not normally found at the mall. But, why you would need this exactly is beyond me. For instance, in the Feminism and Grrl section, they offer BUST, which is hardly tough to come by. You’ve all heard of it. Or in the Electronica Ambient and Club Culture section, they offer the Chemical Brothers and DJ Spooky – um, I think those are pretty widely available, and in Canadian dollars too. Maybe this is sort of a training bra of counterculture, get you roughly familiar with the genres, and then let you find the really cool stuff on your own by personally exploring the “counterculture.” But, if you’re reading this, you’ve probably already finished rolling your eyes and are on to the next thing.
