Canscene: Canada’s Multicultural Scene

This is close to a free daily in quality of content. It’s light, accessible and liberal. The intent of the site is to provide information and encouragement to new Canadians. Thus, there are articles on changes to immigration laws and accreditation of professionals from other countries, reviews of art exhibits of particular interest to a multi-cultural society and appeals for support for motherhood charities such as food banks. There aren’t a lot of related links, but some of them, for example, the Canadian Ethnocultural Council, lead to a phenomenal series of further links. There aren’t a lot of graphics. The text is in clear language. The news segments are in both English and French, but some of the material is only available in English—a weakness in a site to welcome newcomers to a bilingual country. (BB)
